Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the JoyProject mobile apps and website at joyproject.com (together, the "Service"), operated by JoyProject Holdings, LLC ("JoyProject," "we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who Can Use JoyProject

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us, including your phone number, and for keeping your account secure. Tell us right away at team@joyproject.com if you believe your account has been used without permission.

3. Your Content

You own what you post: prayer requests, needs, events, fundraisers, stories, comments, messages, photos and videos ("Content"). By posting Content, you give JoyProject a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt and distribute it to operate, improve and promote the Service, including showing public posts on joyproject.com and in search results. This license ends when you delete the Content or your account, except where the Content has been shared with others or we must keep it for legal reasons.

Posts you mark as public, and posts in public groups, can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in. Do not post information you want to keep private, and do not post another person's private information without their permission.

4. Community Guidelines

JoyProject exists to help people pray, serve and gather with their neighbors. When you use the Service, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, bully or demean anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit or violent content
  • Post anything false or misleading, including fake needs, fake fundraisers or impersonation of a person, church or organization
  • Use the Service for spam, unsolicited advertising or scams
  • Post content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights
  • Break the law or encourage others to
  • Interfere with the Service, try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or collect information about users through automated means

Anyone can report content or users in the app. We may remove or hide content and suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, at our discretion and without notice.

5. Churches, Organizations and Groups

If you create or manage a church, organization or group page, you confirm you are authorized to represent it, and you are responsible for the content and events posted on its behalf. We may verify, transfer or remove pages when ownership is disputed.

6. Events and Meeting in Person

The Service helps people find and attend events and meet needs in their community. JoyProject does not organize, supervise or vet events, needs or users, and is not responsible for what happens when you meet or help someone. Use good judgment, meet in public places when you can, and contact local authorities in an emergency.

7. Donations and Fundraisers

Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms. When you give to a fundraiser, need or organization, your gift goes to the recipient the organizer designated. JoyProject does not guarantee how recipients use funds, and is not responsible for the accuracy of fundraiser descriptions. You may choose to add an optional tip to support JoyProject; tips are not donations to the recipient. Unless required by law or approved by the recipient, donations are not refundable. Whether a gift is tax-deductible depends on the recipient and your situation; JoyProject does not provide tax advice. Organizers are responsible for using funds as described and for any taxes and legal obligations that apply to them.

8. Our Service

JoyProject and its logos, design and software belong to us and our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the apps and website for their intended purpose. We may change, suspend or stop any part of the Service at any time.

9. Ending Your Use

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the app's settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we stop offering the Service. Sections 3 (license for content already shared), 7, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that content posted by users is accurate or safe.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JoyProject and its officers, employees and volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or your interactions with other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid to JoyProject (excluding donations to recipients) in the 12 months before the claim.

You agree to indemnify JoyProject against claims arising from your Content, your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

13. App Stores

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these Terms are between you and JoyProject, not Apple or Google, and JoyProject alone is responsible for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the updated Terms on this page and change the date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
