Lenten Food Stamp Challenge Donations
Where: Bryn Mawr, PA
Shared by Lower Merion Baptist Church on
Inspired by the book "A Place at the Table" by Chris Seay, Lower Merion Baptist Church has participated in a Lenten Food Stamp Challenge since 2018. Those who choose to participate agree to limit their family's food spending to the food stamp limit for the month and a half of Lent and donate the difference to an anti-hunger charity. Since 2018, we have donated over $6300 to Heifer International to provide livestock and infrastructure to poor families. This Challenge is a way to understand how those who are less fortunate live and to identify with the poor.
