Ask your average Christian to tell you something about the book of Joel, and you might get a one-word answer: "Locusts!" It's true, these tiny creatures play a big part in Joel's prophecy. Within Joel's book, locusts contribute to the theme of God's judgment and how the natural world fits into the worship life of God's people.
